Oriental and Mr. Goodies

Today was a really weird "new." I didn't really plan anything i just went with it.

When I got off of work, I decided to get Mr. Goodies before I went to the park. Now if you have never been to or heard of Mr. Goodies, it is a little ice cream place they serve ice cream out of a little trailer in a parking lot. It sounds sketchy but it's super cute though! It has a big huge ice cream cone sitting on top of it and there are picnic tables for people. I got a Pina Colada snowcap, which is flavored water ice and then ice cream and then the water ice again. It is so delicious! But the girl didn't really make it right because it was just dripping everywhere and Jack was jumping to get every drop.

When I got back to my house my roommates said they were going to Mr. Goodies and asked if I wanted to go. Well of course I do! I never want to give up an opportunity. This time I got the hot fudge brownie sundae. It is absolutely, out of this world fabulous. The best thing you will ever put in your mouth. It's the best thing they have on that menu. After we ate for a little while, I was finished and I really wanted to go in this 99cent Oriental Grocery store that was right next to where we were. I had always seen this store every time I went to get ice cream but I had never been in. Well tonight was the night!

My roommate went with me and it stunk as soon as we walked in. No idea why, I guess just all of the weird foods. It was mostly like a grocery store for the Asian community of Lynchburg. And there was nothing there for 99 cents. I was a llittle disappointed about that. But I did end up getting sweet some stuff! I got noodles and dried mango and these coconut rolls. I was real excited about them! Especially these coconut rolls. I will bend over backwards for anything coconut. ***side note- Doing these "news" every day makes me realize more and more how easy it is to make me happy, I almost feel like a child*** The man who checked us out was really very nice, but his finger nails were super nasty! Some were long and yellow. My total for everything was about six bucks, which really wasn't very bad at all, I was pleased.

Well I was a little afraid to try these rolls just in case they were completely nasty, so I made my roommate try one with me. They were very good! Very dry and crunchy because they were wafers with the little coconut cream in the middle. They were something you would want to eat with coffee or tea.

I was very pleased with myself and all the new things I had done today:) I didn't eat dinner and went to Mr. Goodies twice, I went into a weird oriental store and got weird yummy food! What a great weird new day.

Transformers ll

Well here I  go again. For my "new" today I have yet again attempted to watch Transformers. If you are unfamiliar with my beef with Transformers, I pretty much hate them. And I haven't even seen them. They just seem so ridiculous and so absurd. A long time ago I made a promise to myself not to ever watch these stupid movies. Well, since I am trying new things this year, I decided to give them a try. I didn't get through the first movie before I fell asleep. I was not impressed with what I had seen though. But today I decided to give the second one a go.

I just feel like the whole movie is super corny! And I also fell asleep again. It really didn't impress me at all either. I don't know why people love these movies so much. I don't like Shia Labeouf's character, he acts like such a dork, and Megan Fox still irks me to my very core.

And do you know what I saw at the movies about a month ago? A preview. That's right, a preview for the THIRD Transformers movie. Oh my word. But you know what? I didn't know what the movie was for and I turned to the person next to me and said, "This movie looks good!" And then the Transformers name came up. It was like a slap in the face. I didn't know! It was a really obscure trailer, really well done, I mean they made me want to go see it and I'm a sworn enemy of these movies! Well, maybe this one will be good I suppose. I'll give it chance. I am a Christian after all.

So both one and tow were a bust, we'll see how the third one goes! I don't want to waste my life anymore.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Record Bracelets!

I'm not done with these records just yet my friends! I must do as many things with them as I can think of! Today for my "new" I made the records into bracelets! Aren't you so impressed with me?

I started the project so late at night because all I wanted to do when I got home was eat and watch TV. And I had a lovely time doing so! My lovely roommate made me a lovely dinner and I watched Baby Mama, super funny movie! I recommend it:)

So I started making the bracelets at about 11:30 in the P.M. but it was worth it! I had looked up a video on how to go about doing this, and it seemed real easy, at least for me. I pre-heated the oven to 200 and I put the record on a cookie sheet and in the oven. When it started to warp a little I took it out and cut it up into strips and put them back in the oven. When they started getting warm again I took them out one by one and I used a soup can to wrap it around. Each bracelet was a little different, and I love how they turned out!

I didn't want to just leave them plain, but I didn't have any charms or ribbon I could just punch a hole and thread it through. So I decided to do a little collage thing on each of them. I don't remember the fancy thing it's called when you do those collages on something, like poly-something. Well anyways I decided to do that on each one.

I went through a magazine and torn up pictures and designs I liked. I used paper glue to put it all together. The first one I did was just all newspaper looking, which I really liked because it could go with a lot. Then I did another one with a cool flower swirly design and then the third one looked magazine looking and the last one I left plain.

Well I think all of these turned out rather well! When I am poor this Christmas, all of you can expect one of these bracelets from me:)

Ezekiel 23:42
The sound of a carefree multitude was with her; and with men of the common sort, drunkards were brought from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on the hands of the women, and beautiful crowns on their heads.

If you want to give it a try here a video to help!

Outback Flyhouse

I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant this much in my whole life. I had gotten a gift card for my birthday for Outback Steakhouse and I had never gotten a gift card for a restaurant before so I was excited to use it for my new!

I asked Jacob(he's a soldier for the United States Army) to go with me! So we rode over there and it was a Tuesday night so it obviously was not that crowded and we were seated right away. The last time I had been here was more then a year ago, so I was unfamiliar with the menu. All I knew was that I wanted the bloomin' onion for an appetizer. Delicious! I was totally lost with the menu too. I had no clue what I wanted. I just wanted something good! So I told Jacob to order for me. I wish people did that for me more often, then I would always end up with a variety of food and it would always be a surprise!

So he ordered the lamb rack for me, yum! I was excited. I also ordered this drink call "Coco Berry," or something like that. It had coconut and strawberry in it, so I decided to get it just because of the coconut. Well, I should've just stuck to my Pina Colada. It was all sour tasting  like lemonade, and I do not like lemonade. Disappointing. I'll never stray again!

It took a while to get the appetizer and my drink and then it took FOREVER to actually get our food. And I don't even know why because there was no one even there. But we occupied our time looking up upcoming movies(Mr. Popper's Penguins with Jim Carry! Can't wait!) and we played a couple of rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors; classic.

They finally brought our food out and we prayed and then I went straight for my mashed potatoes. They were cold! And I'm not talking like just room temp, I mean cold. And then I look over to Jacob to show my disgust and I see him picking through his fries and he looks up at me,

"Look!" he says.

I look on his plate and in his fries is a big dead fly! EW! It was so gross! and then he held up another fry that had it's leg sticking out of it. I wanted to throw up! It was so sick. I just covered my mouth and started laughing so hard! I couldn't believe it! And then he didn't even want to send it back! He has this paranoia that if you send anything back or complain about anything, they'll pee on your food in the back. Oh my gosh, we HAD to send it back!

And then out of no where the manager pops up at our table making his rounds and asking if everything is good, and I was like, "Um, he needs to send his back."
"What seems to be the problem?"
"Um there's a dead fly in his food." Haha! It was so sick! He saw it and took it back right away, he was embarrassed. But now Jacob had to wait even LONGER for his food, and it had already taken so long. We asked if he could just have the steak off of it because that was fine, but they had just chucked everything, which I was glad of.  It could've been crawling around on his food!

Well my lamb was good! I actually loved it, the sauce that was on the side was fabulous. When he finally got his fly free food, there was double the amount of fries on his plate as before and the steak looked great and it really was! And everyone kept coming over and apologizing to us. They took the steak off the bill and gave us free dessert if we wanted, but we were too full.

What a bad experience overall. I'll probably go back at some point, but it won't me my decision to. I've learned that I seriously need to check my food before I eat it. Everyone always should! Never forget or you'll end up like the Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

Isaiah 7:18
In that day the LORD will whistle for the fly that is at the end of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

Easter Weekend

Fun Fun Fun! All weekend long! And that's my excuse for not writing about my "news" every day:) Everyone needs a break once in a while right?

On Saturday I tried to be a little more studious for my new. I attempted to actually study before I took my Biology quizzes online. Well, it didn't work out so well. As most of the world knows, I am a procrastinator. Therefore I had to wait until the last minute to study. We are all given study guides for the quizzes and what we are supposed to have learned. Well I started the thing, but couldn't get through it. It was too much. It was just so long! I had better things to do, like eat my dinner and watch a movie:) I ended up getting a B on one quiz and a C on the other. I was just fine with that:)

Easter day was fun and funny. I slept over at my parents, but they didn't know it, so they were calling me in the morning to tell me to come over, but my phone wasn't even working so I didn't get any of their messages they sent from upstairs. I woke up by myself and took Jack out and came bak in and they thought I was just getting there. What a bunch of silly heads.

We each found our baskets and mine was fabulous. It was all in a little bag from Charlotte Russ and it was filled with candy and a some clothes. After church we came back and waited for my sister and her husband to come into town so we could all go eat. While we waiting  is when I did my "new." Justin, my brother taught me. He was playing his guitar and he started playing my favorite Beatles' song, "Blackbird." I wanted to learn!

"Justin please teach me! I wanna learn, it'll be my new!" says I.
"Um, okay hold on," he aid. Then he left and when he came back he had a Rolo in his hands.
"Oh thanks!" says I.
"No!" he said, "If you want to learn you must learn to give. Now open the Rolo but do not eat it."
So I did. "Here, I opened it!"
"Thanks!" and he took it and ate it. Oh gosh.

Well the second he started teaching me was the same second I realized that this crap is a lot hard then it looks! My fingers started hurting so bad and my nails were really in the way. I was seriously trying with all my heart! I had never even really put my fingers on a guitar and try to play before. I got some of the notes down, but not nearly enough to know what I was really trying to play. Plus my finger tips had already turned numb. I was pushing down on those strings so hard! Justin said the first time he started playing, his fingers started bleeding. I don't think I'm ready to commit myself to that extent yet.

I have always wished I could play the guitar or something, but I am almost positve that some people are meant to be musical and just know it and those other people, aka me, are just meant to listen to the other people playing. I haven't got it:( That won't stop me from trying harder to learn this stinkin song though! I think I at least have the right to learn one song. I think God will help me do that:)

Psalm 68:35
Awesome is God from his sanctuary;the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people.Blessed be God!

So I was searching for an Easter picture and I saw this. What in the world?
Can you really buy these things? How do they get like this?

Record to Bowl

I got the idea for today's "new" from a coffee shop. Last week I was downtown, and I had some time to kill before I had to be somewhere. So I decided to get some coffee and read at The White Hart Cafe, it is such an awesome coffee shop/ bookstore! They have live bands playing every once in a while, and it has a great atmosphere.

While I was waiting for my coffee to be made, I was looking around and I spotted this really cool bowl. It was a record that had been made into a bowl, like melted and folded somehow. I loved it! It was so unique! And it just so happens, that I had a bunch of records I had gotten from that huge trip to Goodwill I had gone on. I thought I might be able to use them for something. What a coincidence!

I wasn't sure how to do it at all, the only thing I knew was that it was melted in place somehow. For some reason I thought the best way to do this would be a lighter. Why you ask? I don't know, it failed miserably as you would probably assume. So then I thought of the stove! What a great idea that was! And I silently congratulated myself.

I went to the stove and turned on the burner to high and I slowly rotated the record above it. It began to bend and I tried my best to mold it how I wanted. I had a bowl there so I could mold it around the bowl. I had to keep heating it up again because it kept hardening the wrong way:( I did it for this first time on the record I had already jacked up with the lighter so I wouldn't have to ruin another record. I really liked the way it turned out! So, I tried it again. It was a little hard of a technique because it was hard to hold with my hands because it was hot, but it was also hard to hold with the oven mitts as well. But overall I liked how it turned out.

Then it had only just dawned on me to look on the internet to see how other people said to do it. Most everyone said to use the oven, not the stove. I guess that would be even easier, I hadn't thought of that. The directions were to get a cookie sheet, bowl, and record. Set the oven to 200 degrees and turn the bowl upside down and put the record on top of it. Wait for the record to start bending and then take it out of the oven and use the bowl to mold it. I liked this technique more. It gave me just about the same result, but the process was a lot simpler.

So now I have some really awesome bowls to show off in my house! Who says melting random stuff is bad? It just has to be the right random stuff. I think I'll put candy in themJ
put some candy in them.

This is the jacked up lighter one

An over head view. The one that looks pink is the oven one, and
the one that looks red is the stove/burner one.

Doggy Day Care

I was definitely not planning on today’s “new” at all. But you got to do what you got to do.

I started out the day with one puppy and just ended the day with 5 different dogs. How did this happen?
Well I already had my puppy, Jack Jack, he’s a cavilerJ The best one, except he is being punished right now because he peed on the floor. And then my mom called and asked me if I could watch the dogs so they could go to the beach without me. Sure thing mom. I hope you have a blast. I just hate being a student and having work obligations! I wish I could just drop everything and go to Ocean CityL

So now I had Benny, my mom’s papillon, Ziggy my brother’s lab who is HUGE, Esme my sister’s Jack Russell(she had gone to the beach and my parents were watching this pain in the neck for her) and Jack. So now I was up to 4 dogs.

Then after work, Jacob and I went on a walk and he brought one of his family’s dogs, Poppy, also a Caviler. After our walk, he wanted to go borrow a friend’s bike so he couldn’t take Poppy with him, so I had to take care of her too! Oh my goodness.

Having just Jack and Poppy together was a little challenging in and of itself. Jack just does not leave Poppy alone at all! He just wants to lick her face off so bad and jump on her.

I had to be very strategic in how I had to handle all of these canines. I have also come to the conclusion that I hate Esme. She is just too crazy. Her two different color eyes are just plain creepy, she’s fat and has no fur. No one is very keen on her, including her owners. When I took them all out to go the bathroom, Jack and Poppy would just walk around by themselves and I had a leash on Ziggy and Esme. Talk about tangled up!

When all of the dogs we together , Poppy was always in my arms because she was a little scared and Ziggy would not stop smelling her, Benny was just walking around and minding his own business , Jack was trying to jump on Esme and she would just growl at him. It was kind of hard for me to get them all where I wanted too. I put Esme back downstairs in Ziggy's cage because I don't her anywhere near me, because I just don’t trust her. I don't like her, I hope I have made that clear enough. Then I had the rest of them in the room with me. I put Jack Jack in the bathroom because I didn't want him jumping on Poppy(she's hott stuff). I put Poppy on the bed with me and Benny was under the bed and ziggy was on the floor next to the bed on a pillow. It was quite a scene. Never in my life had I thought I would be watching this many dogs at the same time. One dog is enough for me! Even two is just too much, just like children. Haha just kidding:)

I had actually contemplated a dog walking business earlier in the day, but after this experience, I think not. I think God was letting me know that this is something I just cannot deal with very well. I am just learning so much through all of my “new”s!

Kindred Spirits

Today’s “new,” was definitely different and a lot of fun!

I work Tuesday through Saturdays and I am a full time student. On Wednesday and Fridays I have to leave work and go to class. It's a lot of driving, I go to class in the morning then I go back to work, then back to class and then to work again. It gets really old. But I had some company today! It was a new for us both.

One of the ladies at the salon brings her 6-year-old daughter with her every once in a while, and we have become real chums! Her name is Taylee and she is the cutest sweetest little girl. Well she was in the salon today and she was standing next to my desk when I announce I have to go to class now and I tell her she can come with me if she wants. I thought she would just laugh or say no, but she said Okay! She said she had never been to Liberty before. I was only half serious when I thought of it, but I was pretty sure it'd be okay if she came. We got the okay from the mom, so off we go! It would be a new for both of us.

We got her booster seat, I gave her some ray bands to wear, got buckled up, and off we went! When we got to school, I told her to hold my hand so no one would steal her and we walked to class. I felt like I had a puppy with me, everyone was looking like they had never seen a child before, it was so funny.

When I got to class we go right up to my usual spot in the front of the room. We tried to look inconspicuous. My teacher came over and said it would be okay only just this one time. Whatever, she's not gunna bite anyone, relax. My class was really boring for her, the Psychological and Social Aspect of Clothing. It was real six-year-old material. She copied a little bit of the notes down for me, her writing got bigger and bigger as she kept on writing.

Finally class ended. We decided that getting smoothies would be the best decision for our intense studiousness.

When we got back to the salon, she had found an Easter egg and we spent most of the rest of the day taking turns hiding it and finding it again. It was a new and fun day for both of us, we have become kindred spirits!

Luke 16:9
And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.

Hillcats

My first day back at Hillcats Baseball Stadium. Definitely not a new thing at all. I have been at Hillcats now going on 7 years. But it is my first year of just waitresses, so I am counting that as my new:)

I started working at Hillcats when I was just a wee little lass of fourteen. I started out at the Dippin' Dots stand and I loved it! All I had to do was scoop the dots, and fill my face with little spoonfuls. I was in charge of that stand, it was MY stand. And then I started working at the concessions stand and other people started taking over Dippin' Dots and I was so sad. I only wanted to be over there, but none of my bosses ever listened to me. Then as soon as I turned 18, I started waiting on the sky boxes. I'm not really the waitressing type, but I've been there for so long, it wasn't hard to pick up. I didn't do just the sky boxes either, he had me doing concessions too, wish I did NOT like.

So before the season started this year, I e-mailed my boss and told him I only wanted to do sky boxes and no more concessions. He wrote back and told me to give him a call. Oh gosh, I was going to have to fight with him. So I called the next day and he said he wanted to talk to me about a few things from last summer.
"Okay..." says I.
"I noticed that last summer that sometimes you did not tuck in your shirt." he said, "Sometimes you had your shirt rolled under so it looked like it was tucked in, but it wasn't."
"Okay...um I'll make sure it's tucked in this year," says I. I could not believe what I was hearing.
"And also I noticed how you would be tired sometimes, and you would tell me," he said, "I know you worked two jobs."
"Yeah, I mean I am tired sometimes and I might complain about it, but I've never acted tired toward any customers," says I, "Don't worry about that."
"Okay," He said.
"So is it okay that I just work waitstaff then?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, that's fine," he said.

Oh my goodness. I can't believe I actually had that conversation. He is so weird. I've been through so many bosses and he is definitely one of the strangest I've had.

Well anyways, my first night back went alright. I started out with only one box showing up, so one of the other waitresses gave me hers and then all my boxes started showing up so I ended up giving one back to her.

My first box got a lot of alcohol which is always a big tip so I was happy with them. My second box had only one couple and the husband was so sweet and his wife was a real jerk! Don't you hate when that happens? Poor guy. My third box had a bunch of people and they got a lot of food, but I wasn't such a great waitress to them because it was the box I jumped in on, so I kept forgetting things. But everything turned out okay, I made about my average in tips, it was pretty good for a Tuesday.

It felt so natural being back at Hillcats. Oh its going to be a long summer.

Genesis 43:31
Then he washed his face and came out. And controlling himself he said, "Serve the food."

Building a Tree

Making a tree is not as easy as God makes it out to be. Now I'm not trying to compare myself to God by any means but still, it's hard.

For my "new" today I decided to make a tree on my wall. I just love trees! There is just something about them that is just so strong and beautiful! And my favorite story is The Giving Tree! A big beautiful tree in my room would just make it perfect.

Now my plan emerged from a magazine picture. It was in a "Modern Salon" magazine and the article was about the salon of the month. It was a very earthy and organic looking salon, and on the wall was this tree on the wall made from splintered boards and such. It was so neat! I needed to do that on my wall.

I ripped the page out and when I went back to my house, I showed my dad to see if knew where I could get some wood.
"I don't know where you could find that kind of wood Jenny," he said.
Well I look over next to the garage and there's  a huge pile of wood no one is using and it was pretty much what I needed.
"Well can't I use that wood over there?" says I
"Yeah if you want."
I do want! It was exactly what I needed! He is so silly.

A lot of the wood was nailed together, so I spent most of the time pulling it all apart. I felt like such a man! It was so fun. I put all the wood in a trash can thing and did my best to carry it inside without falling. It was a lot of wood!

The best spot for the tree I found was behind my door and it'll cover a lot of that wall and the branches will kind of hang over my bed. I picked out the first piece I would drill into the wall, it was really exciting! Haha it's pretty sad I got so excited about drilling wood into the wall. I was just waiting to hurt myself the whole time too.

I was getting pretty far into it, I had to pull a lot of the boards apart to give it a more splintered look. Then I had a minor set back when the bit fell out of the drill and I could figure out to get it back in. So while I waited for my dad to call me back, I ate some food(I went grocery shopping at my parents house earlier so I finally had food in the house) and I watched Malcolm in the Middle. I love that show so much, it's so hilarious.

When my dad finally called me back it was about 10:45, but I decided to keep going. I worked until about 1 in the A.M. It wasn't continuous work though, my roommate was talking to me and I had to deal with Jack Jack a little, but I got pretty far, but I didn't get to finish:( It looks really awesome though!

I will post a picture of it as soon as I get done with it. And if you like it, I will totally be willing to build a tree on your wall too! All you have to do is feed me:)

1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Moon Pie

Oh children! I think the reason I love kids the most is because I can tell them anything and they'll believe me! I love that power. It must be really nice to be Obama:) Haha just joshing.

So Sunday, my "new" was very entertaining. I teach a kindergarten class on Sunday nights and I had a lot of kids come, more than usual. It was Palm Sunday, so they had colored leaves and I had bought some plastic ones we could play with (which I cut myself with pretty bad on my finger). We went outside because it was so lovely out, and we danced around with our leaves and praised Jesus! It was really very fun.

When we went inside, it was time for our snack! I went into the kitchen and for some reason, I thought Moon Pies would be a good idea. I really forgot how messy they are. But I thought it would be a nice treat for them. It took me a while to get back to the classroom, so I decided to tell them the true story as to where moon pies come from, the moon!
"Why else would they be called moon pies? Hhmm? Anyone? And why do you think astronauts go up there all the time? For fun? No! That would be silly! Now I'm not going to lie to you, the whole moon isn't made up of these pies. Now what you see at night time is the cheese part of the moon. It covers the whole entire surface. The pies are in the middle of the moon, and there drill that is used to get to them."
"And it sucks them out, right?" Landon says.
"Exactly!" says I. "You see? There's a smart guy over there!" And I point to Landon.
They all got really excited about it. I don't think all of them believed me, but I'm pretty sure I got about half of them. When Landon left I heard him start explaining about the moon pies to his mom. That kid is going places! And if he decides to become an astronaut, I am taking full credit.

Psalm 72:7
In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!

Being Made of Honor

I have been so busy these pass couple of days! My sister's wedding has consumed my life! But now that it's over, it's pretty depressing. I will catch you up on the two "news" that I have done on Friday and Saturday.

Well, as most of the general audience knows, the day before the wedding is always the rehearsal night. I always forget about the rehearsal part and just think about the dinner. The rehearsing at the church went really well, AND I was the first person to get there! Who knows, maybe I am changing my ways:)

For the rehearsal dinner, we went to Neighbor’s Place and Mr. Pavel was taking care of the bill:) Oh, I was not going to miss this opportunity. I got the fabulous skirt steak that was amazing and I also ordered Pina Colada to drink which I had never done before! Now, I'm pretty sure I've tasted a pina colada before, but I've never ordered one, let alone two. I shared, I shared don't worry, but  like I said, I wasn't going to miss this opportunity. Justin, my brother, certainly wasn't going to miss this opportunity either, he ordered two entrees and cleared them both away! He is still a growing boy apparently.

But seriously, I need to get pina coladas more often! They are fabulous! I told my roommate I drank a lot of colada and I think she thought I was serious, as in they weren't virgin, and I didn't care to correct her either. She's silly.

The next day was the big day! We had a lovely bridal brunch in, provided by my lovely mother. I ate a lot. There was monkey bread, bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, tea biscuits, scones, coffee, tea, and I am sure I'm forgetting something else. But after the brunch, my mother and I went to go get umbrellas because it was raining terrible outside and if we had to take the pictures outside, we needed cute umbrellas. Heather was nervous about the rain, but she kept repeating over and over, "Don't stress, it's okay, It'll turn out great." I don't remember how many times she said it. And little did she know it would turn out great! It turned out to be a beautiful day at the most perfect time! God was certainly smiling down on her wedding.

We went with Heather to get her hair done and when we got to the church, I did makeup! Heather's makeup looked so good! And it stayed on all night as well! The eye makeup primer at Victoria's Secret is fabulous! It makes your makeup last ten times longer. I hardly do any touch ups at all when I use it. Anyways, I'm getting off topic, after Heather got her spanks on(if you don't know what that is, don't even worry about it) she put her dress on. She looked absolutely beautiful. Like from the cover of a magazine! I couldn't believe it.

Before we went out to take picture, we realized something. There were no bouquets for us. We had someone doing flower arrangements and boutonnieres, but I guess there was a miscommunication and we had nothing. Well, I don’t know who thought of it, I think it might have been me, but we had a bouquet of lavender flowers to represent my Nana so we all decided to each walk down with a stem from the bouquet and Sue(who did all of the other flower arrangements) had to run and go get flowers for a bouquet for Heather. She saved the day! So now the flowers we walked down with represented Nana, which turned out even better then before.
They also decided to take pictures before the wedding as well, which I thought was a dumb idea at first but then I was really glad they did! That way people didn’t have to wait around while pictures are being taken, plus it was dark by the time the ceremony was over anyways.
As soon as the ceremony started, everything went so smoothly. I successfully walked down the aisle without falling in the most uncomfortable shoes in the whole world, no joke. My dad’s little speech to them was really very good, he did a great job. When the pastor starting talking, I didn’t hear much of it at all. I tried to listen, but all I could concentrate on was my feet slowly going numb, and then I would do a little shift, and then I had a huge itch on my leg but I didn’t want to scratch it because I might fall over. It was a battle from beginning to end. My favorite part of the whole thing was the vows. They were so beautiful! They both wrote their own, and I decided that’s the way it should always be! I could see his face and he had tears just rollin! It was so beautiful.
The reception was at the top floor of this building and it was overlooking all of Lynchburg, and I’ll say it again, it was beautiful! There were just light appetizers for the food which was really good. There were a lot of dessertsJ My escort said he had given up desserts for lint, poor thing, but I tried my best to get him to eat a chocolate candy. It’s not a dessert, it’s like a little snack! It’s like a mint or gum or something. But he wouldn’t do it. Whatever, people are crazy.
Then it was time for my Made of Honor toast! I hadn’t actually written anything down, but I had thought about what I was going to say, so I wasn’t totally unprepared. I talked about how I met Pavel which is actually a weird story. It was Sunday lunch time and we were about to eat, when there was a knock on the door. I go to answer it and there was a guy standing there with a watermelon in his hands.
“Hello,” says I.
“Hello,” says him.
And then he walks on right past me up the stairs. I had never seen this guy before in my life, it was really weird. And then I went on to talk about how wonderful Heather was and how I followed her in high school and all my teachers were always a little disappointed I wasn’t like Heather. I’m telling you! No one can beat this girl! She is nothing but loved by all! Pavel doesn’t know how lucky he is!
And that was basically my speech in a nutshell, I thought it went well.
The rest of the night I was dancing! It was basically the same people on the floor the whole time but it was fun! I dragged my dad out there at one point and it was hilarious. Words cannot express.
At the end of the night we sent them away through a crowd of sparklers and “as they held each other’s hand, they stepped into a beautiful forever.” Haha that’s what my card said that I gave to themJ
Being Made of Honor? Piece of cake.

So then he who marries his betrothed does well, and he who refrains from marriage will do even better.
Haha just kidding:) But really this makes me smile.

Mani

I still can't believe I have lived this long on this earth and I have only just had a manicure today.

I don't know why I've never had one before, I've gotten pedicures and things. I love having my nails all nice and painted, I guess I'm just a cheap person.

The original pan for today's new was to get a manicure with my grandmom. She's in town for my sister's wedding and I really wanted to do something with her! She is hilarious, she cracks me up all the time. I told her we should go get our nails done and she said no way! There was no convincing her.
"Come on grandmom, it'll be so fun! We never get to do anything together! Please?!" says I.
"I just don't do that sort of thing anymore," she says, "I am old, we don't do that."
Well I was just going to bring her anyways and force her. She will like it and she is going to have fun! So the plan was to meet back at the house after I got off of work and we would all drive over there together, me, my mom and grandmom. Well my mom calls and says we can just meet there instead and so when I get there it's just my mom and no grandmom! She tricked me. Well played grandmother, well played. But I'll get her one day!

Anyways the manicure itself was very good! My nails look fantastic! I got a french manicure. And the people that worked there were very friendly. Not your average quiet Chinese workers. So I highly suggest going to visit Joys Nails in Wyndhurst, VA.

Next up, pedicure.

Duties of a Maid of Honor

My sister's wedding is on Saturday, and I am in charge of doing all of the programs and I am going INSANE! The printing is taking forever, and she isn't looking over what I am doing so I'm scared she isn't going to like them or complain.

I have been working on this for the pass two days. I hate it so much. For some reason, Microsoft Word is not wanting to print out part of the program, for no reason at all. and I still haven't even put it all together. I am going to be up late tomorrow night! Oh the sacrifices of a maid of honor!

I never want to make wedding programs ever again.

But if you ask nicely I might...

So this is going to be the shortest post yet because I'm tired and all I want to do is go to bed.

Psalm 6:6
I am weary with my moaning;every night I flood my bed with tears;I drench my couch with my weeping.

Russian Invasion

Oh Monday, Monday. Such a hated day. So far away from Friday! Never a very exciting day this Monday, but I ate a little something new to spice it up!

I went over to my parent's house for dinner, and there were about three Russians there. My sister's fiancée was there along with his mother and some other lady that I never did figure out her relation. They couldn't speak very good English. Neither can I apparently. Anyways, they brought over some homemade raviolis. Well I have certainly never had homemade raviolis before! Let alone Russian ones.

They didn't have any sauce with them, but they made a little Russian sauce for them; it was just mayonnaise and ketchup. Well I wish I had had tomato sauce, but it was certainly very good! There was yummy meat inside with a good flavor. I've made an observation about Russian food over the past couple of experiences, it’s usually good, but a little plain and I'm always still hungry afterwards.

My mom also made some strawberry pie which she had never made before and I had never eaten before! The two Russian women had little slivers plain, my sister and her fiancée shared a plain piece, and I had a big piece with two scoops of ice cream and whip cream:) And I still fit into my size 4 dress for the wedding. Now that's what I call amazing.

We need some Italians in our family next, they’ll eat and appreciate our food better!

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.

Day at the Beach

Well as you all know from me missing a lot of daily postings, I have been very tired. "How shall I cure such a dreadful thing?" I asked myself. And the natural response that I came up with is sleep. I need to take a good nap! But not just any old nap, the BEST nap! And there is only one place in the whole world to take the best nap, the beach.

So my New for Sunday was to drive to Virginia Beach just so I could take a nap. And hopefully get some color. Along for the ride came Justin, my brother and Luke, my longtime fellow classmate. We set off at six in the A.M. Luke was prepared with seven mix cds! Oh goodness me Luke, I would expect nothing less:)

Our drive there went well, after playing the celebrity game for about two hours. We made it there about ten o'clock and set up camp. But before we could pass out for a while, I had to go get some tanning oil, the best stuff in the whole world. They didn't have the kind I like, Banana Boat, oh my goodness it smells so good! So I had to settle for Panama Jack SPF 4.

We went back to our stuff and the sun was shining, it was getting warm, I was in heaven. I was out for about 1 to 2 hours.

Justin was getting darker by the second! And Luke's white skin was illuminating in the sun haha he wore a shirt the whole time so he wouldn't get burnt to death. When we got up, Luke and I decided to get in the frigid water.
"Ready, set, go!"
And we sprinted in, and we sprinted out. It felt like little needles everywhere. But after we got out it did feel warmer. Then after a little while we decided to go for a little run, only about 1 to 2 miles, I could've gone farther:)

I got into the water again when we got back, and this time I stayed out there for a while. After about being in the water for about 30 seconds, I went numb and I was just fine. Neither of the boys could stand it, so they both got out, and I just stayed floating along... so peaceful. When I got out I felt like I was on fire, it was really weird! After I dried off a bit, we went and got some pizza to eat.

When we went back to the beach, Justin and I decided to go on the traditional beach stroll. There's just something about walking down the beach that is just so wonderful.

After our stroll, we decided to head back to the Burg. Virginia Beach gets super scary at night! Everyone starts rolling out of bed and gets up for the night to begin and we book it outta there.

If you ever just need a break, a nice nap, just go to the beach. It solves all of life's problems:)

Lynchburg Talent Show

All I can say about this New for the day is, ridiculousness. Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

My best friend Audrey is a dancer(not the nasty kind) and she is a part of a group at Liberty. Well they auditioned for the Lynchburg Talent Show and got in! So my New for the day was going to this talent show she was in. I believe it was the first year Lynchburg put on a talent show. This should be interesting.

If you know me at all, you would know I am pretty much late for everything. You might call it a part of my charm, plus being a little bit of a mess all the time, as Audrey so kindly puts it. But anyways, so when I get in the car to head on over, I realize that I need to stop and get cash. My bank along the way had its ATM broken, so I had to go out of the way to get to another bank to get money. Needless to say, I was late as always. I try to change, I really do! It just never seems to work out. But it didn't even matter that I was a little late, because the whole show itself was about 30 minutes late starting. And boy was that a grueling 30 minutes! They had a lot of huge speakers stacked up on either side of the stage and music was blasting! It did not take long to get a headache.

I sat with Audrey's family and a couple other friends of hers. And after about fifteen minutes of sitting there did I realize we were the only white people there. Well. I guess white people are just not as talented. We really need to step it up.

When the show finally started, everything was just so loud! There was a little rap song thing first and it was okay I suppose. Then the host came out in her little prom dress thing. She had been Miss Virginia this past year I believe. She had a co-host as well, they were just okay. The whole thing was just really unorganized. It was more of a get together than an actual show.

A dance group from Liberty performed and they were really good! Probably my favorite aside from Audrey's group of course:) They had a couple of different acts of boys trying to rap and some girls trying to sing. And at one point they wanted people from the audience to come up and do a dance off. Oh my goodness. So three sisters went on stage and one was about 5 years old and the others were about 7 and 10. When they started that music they all went crazy! And I mean crazy! The little shy 5 year old who wouldn’t even hardly speak her name into the microphone got down on all fours and started swinging her head all around! I thought I would die! I think that was my favorite part. And they won the dance off by the way.

But the whole thing just kept dragging out longer and longer until FINALLY Audrey’s group got on stage. They did such a beautiful dance! It didn’t fit into the show at all, they were pretty much the opposite. Very contemporary and ballet. They were the best. Haha and I’m not being biased.

And as soon as they were finished dancing, we booked it out of there. We couldn’t take it anymore. I had a feeling it was probably going to go on for another two hours.

Maybe I’ll try and be in charge of this thing for next year, I could do wonders for them! I’d pull off a great showJ And I’ll make Audrey help me with the organization process. If you would like to come next year you can just send your money to me now and I’ll be sure to reserve your ticket. Thank you!

Insane!

First off, I want to begin by letting everyone know that this past week was not a bad week for me so please don't be mad that I have not been faithful to my blog. Thank you!

Anyways my New yesterday was very entertaining and certainly got my mind off things. My friend Danni had called me the other day and asked if I wanted to go to my old high school for a dinner theatre type of deal. "Well I certainly do!" I told her and so after I got off of work I went and picked her up and we were on our way.

I park as close as I can, and we sit in the car a bit because I'm catching her up on my life and she keeps giving me little chocolates to make me feel better and I keep eating them because chocolate always makes you feel better. It's just a fact of life.

It starts to drizzle when we walk in. Now I should have informed you earlier, but better late then never, Danni and I were both big into theatre when we went to Heritage so we always love to go back and see how things are going. She's a year younger then me so she knows more people then me, and she sometimes still gets involved with it, but I don't care, I love seeing my old theatre director. And as soon as we walk in we see Biff, as everyone calls him. He was such an awesome director! Everyone loves him so much. I give him a huge hug, he loves me too:) We make a little small talk and then we walk in.

They had tables set up on the stage where we were supposed to sit and so I pick a table and we have a seat. And Danni ends up knowing the people at our table which was awkward because she really didn't say hi to them right away and so I was just confused. It also wasn't a "dinner" theatre, it was a "dessert and coffee" theatre and each table had a little waitress to bring the things. Well I don't know why, but I got real irritated real fast with this girl. I think it started when she asked me what I wanted to drink and I said I wanted some coffee and water. Well she just told me no. I could not have two things to drink. Excuse me but I not just pay $5 so I could come and drink some coffee and eat dessert. And it was WATER. So dumb. I just kinda stared at her when she told me that. And then Danni chimes in and says "I'll get the water and she'll get the coffee," and she gave me the water. Geez louis. And then they bring a dessert tray by, but it all looked nasty and she said she could run and get me something else real quick, but it was too late. The play stared and all I had was nasty coffee. But it was okay, I was more interested in the plays. They were putting on two one-act plays, and they were both crazy.

The first play, I forget the name, but the whole thing was crazy. Think Sible. You know that older movie with that girl with like 16 different personalities. Freaky. Well this main character Billy was being accused of raping two girls and he has like 23 different personalities. So this whole play we"re seeing all these dofferent personalitioes and trying to figure out what had happened. Well turns out, one of his little quiet personalities, this 19-year old girl was the one that did it. Goll-EE! But in the end they fused all the different personalities together so it was finally just Billy left. Wow. That was difficult.

At intermission I finally got my chocolate pie. It was okay. I guess nothing could really satisfy me that night. And the coffee was just really nasty! I don't know why. Andd our waitress was just so weird, I think something was wrong with her.

The next play was insaine. Literally. It was about the insanity of Mary Gerard. It started out with Mary in this chair being shocked and then all these carzy people came out of no where who were basically figments of her imagination. The whole play they show he how she got there and how her husband addmitted her. They convince her of her insanity and she finally accepts it at the end. "INSANE!" She screams. Intense.

Everyone did a great job, I loved both plays. It's nice to know the theatre department still does well without me, definitely not as good, but still okay:)

So he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard.

A Bedtime Story

I wrote a bedtime story a long time ago in a letter to someone very close, and so I decided that for today's New I would perfect the little story as much as I could and share it. Here goes...

There once lived a cookie that was made all warm and gooey and his name was Chip. Now Chip knew he was a good cookie, his dough’s ingredients perfectly measured, his chocolate chips were the best money could buy, and he was baked to that golden brown perfection. None could compare! And even though he knew how good and perfect he was, he was not happy. He felt that there was something missing.
“Isn’t there something else out there that can make me even better?” he pondered.
And he knew, deep down in his warm chocolate heart that there must be more out there, something that could make him even better. So he set out on a journey in search of his “something missing”, as he called it.

From his china plate throne, he rolled across the counter to the sink. He came upon a bottle of soup.
“Are you my something missing?” he asked sweetly.
The bottle of soup turned, looked at him, and blew a bubble in his face.
“Oh!” he exclaimed, “How inconsiderate!” And Chip turned away and continued on his expedition.
Chip then decided to hop onto the nearby table. He rolled up to a couple of napkins having an argument.
“Look at my pattern work! Clearly I am more appealing to the eye!” exclaimed one napkin.
“Yes, but I am much softer to the touch. It’s all about the feel baby!” the other protested.
“Excused me,” Chip chirped, “I don’t mean to interrupt, but are either of you my something missing?”
They both stopped and stared at him.
“Would you look at this guy?” the first napkin exclaimed, “did you not see us having a conversation?”
“Yes, but…” Chip tried to explain but the other napkin interrupted, “But nothing, you are rude and you need to go.”
So Chip rolled off and away from them, fast. But just before he hopped off the table, he ran into some salt and pepper shakers.
“Wow, look how fun and happy they are!” Chip thought, “they MUST be my something missing.” He was so excited he started to yell, “Hey Salt ‘n Pepper! I’m Chip the cookie! Are you my something missing?”
“No Chip, I’m sorry, but we aren’t” explained the Salt ‘n Pepper, “We are each other’s something missing! We can’t do anything for you.”
Chip got so sad, his chocolate chips were melting and he started to cry.
“Don’t lose hope!” exclaimed the Pepper. “I know you’ll find your something missing somewhere out there!” the Salt agreed.
But it was no use, Chip was so distraught. And just when he was about to lose all hope, a light shone right on him. He stopped crying.“Where is that coming from?” he thought. So he started to follow it.

It was coming from a huge white box with a door on it that had been left open. It grew colder as he rolled closer and closer until he was right next to it. He peeked around the door.

There she was. He knew instantly. She was in a slender glass bottle and the purest of white. The light caught on her bottle and sparkled. Chip rolled up to the bottle of milk.
“What’s your name?” he asked.
“Dairy,” she answered smoothly, “what’s yours?”
“Chip,” he said and she nodded. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” said Chip, “You’re my something missing.”
And thus began the greatest relationship known to this world. A love and bond so strong, no one could break, even if they wanted to. They were soul mates, destined to be together forever and ever until the end of time. The milk and the cookie. The end.

 1 Corinthians 13:13
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Goodwill

I love Goodwill. I have always loved Goodwill. Sometimes we go through little rough patches, but for the most part, I just LOVE Goodwill.

I can always seem to find things there, whether shoes or shirt or a knick knack. BUT, you have to be willing to look through things. You have to find the roses underneath the thorns, and that’s where most people are lost. They aren’t willing to look through those rocks and thorns to find the good stuff.

I decided to make Goodwill a part of my new for the day. I became inspired by this girl I met the other day when I was mixing up creamer in my coffee. At first she commenting on liking my sandals and I look up at her and she was wearing this really unique red ethnic looking dress. I told her I really liked her dress and she informed me she found it at a thrift store. "Shut up!" says I, and she goes on to tell me how she likes weird dresses and finding a lot of cool different ones. How interesting!

So none the less I became inspired by the girl and I set out on a quest to Goodwill to find something awesome. Well let me tell you, I have never shopped Goodwill so intensely in my life! I started out in the dresses and found SO MANY. Then I went over to the knick knacks and picked up some records to do a cool little art project with. Then I found a box and an elephant statue thing and then I found this wicked looking silver swirly candle holder that goes on the wall. They where all really great finds!

After I tried on all of the awesome clothes I had picked out, I found about four pairs of shoes! I couldn't believe how great I had done! I found a lot of clothes for the summer time already and for cheap cheap! I got all of my stuff for about fifty dollars, PLUS my sister is going to give me $30 towards it because she wanted to take me somewhere for my birthday to spend some money, so this will be it!

I know Goodwill can be stinky, and yes most of the people that go there are a little bit strange, but you can find some really great stuff! If you're interested in me coaching you on some Do's and Dont's of Goodwill, I'd be more than happy to take you under my wing! I do consider myself a professional. Some examples of what I mean would be, Do grab some stuff that you are iffy about, chances are it will look good on even though it didn't look good on the hanger. Don't buy underwear, sheets, bras or even bathing suits from there, you really never know what those things went through and it’s not worth it. Do try to barter a little bit if you feel like a knick knack you found should be a little less, most of the time they will lower the price a bit for you. Do buy shoes there, I have found some really awesome shoes from thrift stores and sometimes people do have nasty feet, so if you feel the need, just spray the inside of the shoes with something, it won't kill you.

I hope I was helpful in some of my tips! It was really very fun hitting up Goodwill so hard, I was thinking about going to a different thrift store in town tomorrow to see what over treasures I can find. With a little patience and a stiff nose, thrift stores can be very rewarding!

Job 22:21
"Agree with God, and be at peace;thereby good will come to you.

The Whole Wide World

Today was a very much blasé kind of day. I mean it is Monday for goodness sakes. And I definitely did not get the memo that it was "dress" day today. Literally three out of every four girls was wearing a dress today. I felt very underdressed.

I did a couple of ½ new things today. The first thing I did half counts half doesn't. I went to convocation today, which if you don't know is something that Liberty University has that is mandatory for students to go to three times a week in the morning. It's basically like chapel. But since I'm a commuter I don't have to go, so I haven't been to convo in about a year. It's been a long time. Even though they have really great speakers sometimes, I just don't go. But today I actually decided to for some reason. Strange. It wasn't very good either. They had a Republican and a Democrat and they were talking back and forth and saying how they were still friends and they can find common ground. Blah Blah. It made me not want to go back to convo. But it was definitely a new for me!

My second new happened when I was at Barns and Noble with my mom. I went up to get coffee and the girl that was working there has been working there for a long time. I would know because I like going there a lot. And she just always has this attitude like she's mad at something all the time! She always pierces her lips into a thin line and sticks them out a little like she's doing me the biggest favor in the world by making me coffee when she could be doing other things. I was dying to ask her, "What is your problem?! Be happy! You are so ridiculous!" I wasn't going to say all that, but I was going to ask her if there was something wrong because really, she was being ridiculous. But I lost my nerve. I was disappointed in myself.

So when Narns and Boble (as I sometimes like to call it) was just about to close, I saw a bin of maps in the corner. I have always wanted to get a huge world map and put a bunch of pins in it of all the places I've been and all the places I want to go. I picked out a cool looking one and bought it for 8 bucks. Not bad. Then I went to Walmart to get pins to put in it.

I get home and my roommate helps me put it up and it looks really good and we just spend a lot of time looking at all the different countries. I really feel like I'm going to learn a lot just having this hang it my room! I feel like I could stare at it for hours! I did not know that Libya by itself was bigger than France and England combined. It's just blowing my mind! And just how itty bitty Japan is but so many people live there! (even though when I went to look up how many people are living there exactly it said the population has been going down)

This is going to remind me to pray for all the different countries around the world too! Ones I didn't even know existed. Isn't it weird to think that there are people living in areas around the world you didn't even know where there? Craziness.

But anyways, I tried to start putting pins in the map but my walls are really weird and hard like cement so I couldn't do it. I need to get like a cork board or something to put behind it. I'm really excited about it though! I'm going to learn a lot from it just hanging there!

Mark 16:15
And he said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

Jack Jack

I know, I know. I haven't been writing over the weekend. But trust me; I had a LOT going on. My hands were full and the last thing I thought about was my blog. I'm sorry, some things just happen sometimes and I needed a little break, but I'll fill you in on the little "New"s that I did this past weekend.

On Saturday I didn't do anything new. I don't want to lie to you or make anything up. But it was new for me not to do anything new! Shouldn't that count? Well since I'm in charge of this whole thing and I make the rules, I think it should count. So my new for Saturday was not doing anything new. And there you go.

On Sunday, I did do an actual new thing. I was so exhausted from everything that was going on and I teach a kindergarten class on Sunday nights and I was really not up for it at all. I decided that I did not want to work very hard so I brought Jack Jack, my puppy along with me. Then the kids could all play with him for a long time and I wouldn't have to do so much.

Well of course the craziest boy I have in my class is the one kid that's afraid of dogs. How annoying. And his mom was annoying too, I think because she didn't like dogs and that was basically the reason he didn't like them.
She was like, "Um, is he going to be in here the whole time? Because Landon doesn't like dogs."
I just told her not to worry and it was going to be okay. And it really was, he was fine the whole time, he even held his leash for a while.

We went outside and played Duck, Duck, Goose for a while and then we did our story, and played with Jack Jack and then went inside and did snack and craft. While Jack was distracting so they really didn't pay me a whole lot of attention, it was a fun change of pace for the kids. And Jack had a lot of fun too! He fell right asleep when we got in the car.

So if you ever aren't feeling good and you need something to distract people from the fact, just drag a puppy along with you wherever you go. Works like a charm:)

Isaiah 40:30
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall
